Lakeside Animal Hospital Services

We are a full service companion animal hospital with a strong commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventative care for young healthy pet; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during their lifetime.

As you can see by our extensive list of services, all your pet's needs are served at one location!

  • Complete Medical Assessment

A complete medical assessment begins with a thorough physical examination where your pet’s eyes, ears, skin, cardiovascular, neurological, gastrointestinal and skeletal system are examined for any abnormalities. Blood tests can be performed as necessary to assess the proper functioning of your pet’s kidneys, liver, pancreas, and endocrine system including the thyroid gland and adrenal glands. Urine tests can detect similar problems. Depending on your pet’s condition, we may recommend further diagnostic tests such as radiography (X-rays), endoscopy (internal scoping), ultrasound or surgery.
  • Immunization and Wellness Care

We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in Wellness programs has rewards for both pets and owners. Our Wellness programs are designed specifically for your pet and include: Comprehensive physical exam; internal parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; spay and neuter package; and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
  • Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft tissue surgery involves surgeries not associated with bone. We can perform any type of soft tissue surgery at our clinic, the most common being the removal of masses or ‘lumps’ on animals. Most of these masses or ‘lumps’, once removed and tested, are benign (non-harmful); however, occasionally they are more serious. Early removal and accurate diagnosis of a ‘lump’ is necessary to improve the outcome in your pet if the mass is cancerous. Lacerations are also common in pets and suturing will reduce the chance of infection, improve healing time and reduce scarring.

Many breeds of dogs are susceptible to ear infections. Surgical treatment on ears improves air flow into the ear canal and can reduce the occurrence of ear infections.

Tearing in your pet’s eyes can mean an infection is present or it may be a sign the cornea (outer layer of the eye itself) has been damaged. A damaged cornea may require soft tissue surgery to allow the cornea to heal faster with less scarring. Less scarring will improve the ability of your pet to see. In some animals, the cornea (outer layer of the eye) may be damaged by the eyelid hairs surrounding the eye. Surgical intervention involving the eyelid improves the comfort in these animals. It also reduces the chances of corneal scarring and enhances the animal’s vision in the long term.
  • Spaying

Spaying refers to the surgical procedure performed on female dogs and cats to render them infertile. There are many benefits to spaying your female companion. First, you will contribute to the prevention of the dog and cat overpopulation. Second, spaying will eliminate the sometimes ‘messy’ heat cycles that attract male dogs to your house from miles away. Third, you will help prevent diseases in your pet such as Pyometra (infection in the uterus) and mammary cancer. Spaying involves surgical removal of both ovaries and the uterus. It can be performed under a number of anesthetics and monitoring devices. If you are shopping around for a competitive price on this procedure, be sure to question the type of anesthetic used and the monitoring equipment and procedures followed. We use several monitoring devices during your pet’s anesthetic. A registered veterinary technician continually assesses your pet’s vital signs during the procedure. Although the risk of an anesthetic death in a normal healthy pet is very rare, our monitoring devices and procedures allow us to respond to an anesthetic emergency faster. Faster responses can save lives. Please call or visit our facility to learn more about our spaying procedures.
  • Neutering

Neutering refers to the surgical procedure performed on male dogs and cats to render them infertile. There are many benefits to neutering your male companion. First, you will contribute to the prevention of the dog and cat overpopulation. Second, neutering will eliminate undesirable and at times, embarrassing behavior in your male companion. Third, you will help prevent diseases in your pet such as prostate disease and testicular cancer.

Neutering involves surgical removal of both testicles. Please call or visit our facility to learn more about our neutering procedures.
  • Teeth Cleaning and More....

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe ultrasound to clean each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and reduce tooth sensitivity.
  • Radiology

Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems.
  • Hospice / Euthanasia Services

Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We work with clients to ensure their pet's comfort and dignity. Services include taking care of the remains as directed by the client.
  • Flea and Heartworm Control

A flea problem on your pet means a flea problem in your home. Understanding the flea life cycle and methods for its control can be a daunting task but we will gladly assist you in this process. We can provide you with safe, effective flea prevention and if necessary, flea treatment.
  • Behavior Counseling

Each year more pets are relinquished or euthanized for behavior related problems than for all medical causes combined. Behavior problems are extremely frustrating for owners and cause the bond between owners and pets to quickly deteriorate. Many owners do not know where to turn for help and receive multiple conflicting ideas about how to best solve the problem.
Lakeside Animal Hospital offers you and your pet a practical hands on approach to address puppy and kitten needs before they become behavior problems. In addtion, we can help address behavior issues with older dogs which can sometimes be brought about due to medical conditions. We also offer free handouts to help you work with your dog or cat at home.
Once an owner understands why their pet exhibits a certain behavior, the treatment plan begins to make sense and the bond between pet and owner can be restored.

  • Nutritional Counseling

Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and certified staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active.
  • Daytime Playtime

Playtime here at Lakeside is a great way to offer your dog an alternative to sitting at home alone. Dogs are evaluated and placed into groups of similar size and temperament. If you dog does not prefer a group setting, they will get one on one playtime with a member of our kennel staff. Dogs get a minimum of two play periods per morning and afternoon shifts and there is no charge for the first day while we evaluate your pet's temperment. What better way for your dog to make friends and come home tired!
  • Boarding

Pets are like our children – we feed, nurture and lavish attention on them. Our highly qualified kennel attendants do the same when you can't be there. We provide tender loving care (such as brushing and cuddling), and supervised outdoor playtime to keep them happy and active. Our indoor boarding facility is equipped with several different size runs and cages. All dogs are allowed out a minimum of two times per morning and afternoon shifts. Since we are a full service hospital, we can administer medications or handle any emergency that may arise during your pet's stay.
  • Full Service Grooming

We provide full service grooming for your dogs and cats. Sedation is available for your Pet's comfort if needed.
  • Pain Management

Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care.
